It is the soul of Tango.

It’s breathing goes with the dancers’ breathing and pumping hearts. A small accordion-like instrument that envelopes you in a warm and evocative soundscape—it is the bandoneon.

Orchestra Nashville explores the sensuous world of tango through the sounds of this exotic instrument.

As Orchestra Nashville and bandoneon master Raul Jaurena become a tango orchestra, acclaimed dancers Carolina Herrera and Anton Gazenbeek will enliven the stage with the passion of traditional Argentine tango.

And John Mock and Jeff Lisenby join the program with traditional folk and jazz selections that link the heritage of the concertina, accordion and bandoneon to Nashville's eclectic music scene.

Featuring the Concerto for Bandoneon by Astor Piazzolla, and Osvaldo Golijov’s Last Round, which was conceived as an idealized bandoneon.

Jump-start your holiday season with this festive program featuring a diverse selection of songs in true Music Without Boundaries fashion that celebrate the gifts we all share.

In 1976 Stevie Wonder released his iconic two-album set, Songs In The Key Of Life, and turned the music world on end with its genre-busting fusion of soul, jazz, Latin and pop. It inspired a generation and continues to move us today, as we use songs from this seminal record along with traditional gospel, jazz and classical works to shape our annual Thanksgiving Celebration.

Featuring the songs you love, sung by the amazing Jonell Moser, Odessa Settles, Scat Springs and Todd Suttles with the Orchestra Nashville Gospel Choir.

Also featuring instrumental soloists Jeff Coffin, David Davidson, Alexander Fedoriouk, John Jorgenson and Tracy Silverman on world premieres, R&B and gypsy jazz.

All backed by the hippest orchestra on the planet—otherwise known as Orchestra Nashville.

Cabaret-style table seating on the main floor, with food and beverage service offers a fun way to share the evening with friends and family.

Selections include works by Oscar Brown Jr., Walter Hawkins, John Jorgenson & Carl Marsh, Puccini, Don Hart, Tracy Silverman (world premiere), Hezikiah Walker, and Stevie Wonder.

What is spiritual music?

This program explores that question through music suggestions submitted on our Music of the Spirit blog.

Orchestra Nashville’s contribution to this timeless question will be Anima Mundi, a work we commissioned from composer J. Mark Scearce for five vocal soloists, chorus and orchestra. Using

text ranging from Chief Seattle to the book ofJob,

Anima Mundi is a powerful vision of spiritual music

for our global community.

Listen to excerpts and read the composer's program notes and the text for Anima Mundi.

Join us as we discover and celebrate our community’s diverse beliefs about spiritual music.

MIKE FARRIS (above) joined the program to sing Marvin Gaye's What's Goin On. The McCrary Sisters will join Mike on backup vocals and the Orchstra Nashville Strings and percussionists will fill out the chart.

Listen to Mike's soulful singing.

Read the blog post that suggested the Marvin Gaye song as a work of spiritual music.
