Perfect Gift – For Me!

Perfect Gift – For Me!

Article By: Kindledxbuy.com

I am 73 years. About a year ago, a blood clot developed, first in one eye, then the other. Leaving me alone with a vision impaired enough so that one of my favorite pastimes – reading – has become a frustrating and almost impossible task. Large type books worked, but find the titles that I read was almost as frustrating to read 10 point type. And many novels page 500 are simply not practical – he wants to fight with a bowling ball for hours?

Then my wife Linda thought I bought a DX for Father’s Day. It ‘was, in fact, one of the best gifts I ever received. In the last month I read a novel Lescroart, two revised from top to bottom and I’m plodding my way through Well’s (1000 + page) outline of history (one of those expensive, 80 cents …… my darling review of what is elsewhere on this site ….) The font large type works perfectly and all the other interesting features like the ability to load a Bruckner symphony in it are fabulous prizes.

A cover for it should arrive today – recommended if you take it places. I do. And those who make the mistake of asking if this is “one of those gadgets electronic book?” Gets a lot bigger than the demo I’m sure waited. But the answer is always the same – a surprise (amazoned?) WOW!

If these things ever get a bit ‘of money, look out Barnes and Noble ……. this could be the wave of the future!

Country Throwdown Tour Tickets ? Traveling Country Music Fest

Country Throwdown Tour Tickets ? Traveling Country Music Fest

If you aren’t able to catch the country’s biggest country musical festival in Indio this year, hit up the next best thing as the traveling country event Country Throwdown Tour visits several cities through the spring featuring Montgomery Gentry, Jamey Johnson, Little Big Town and Jack Ingram. The team is visiting 23 cities this year, opening up in the middle of May with a performance at Tampa’s Ford Amphitheater and closing at the end of June at Shoreline in Mountain View, Calif. With Country Throwdown Tour tickets already available from http://www.stubhub.com, what are you waiting for? Put on your country boots this season with some great acts today!

It is the first multi-stage traveling country fest from 4 FINI, Inc., the company that has brought North American punk fans the Vans Warped Tour for years, and fans can bet on a great time during Country Throwdown. Loading up the trucks with cowboy boots, big hats and classic guitars, the show will feature a slew of country acts that include headlining veterans and newcomers. Apart from Montgomery Gentry closing out the show as headliners, youngsters like Eric Church, the Eli Young Band, the Lost Trailers, Heidi Newfield, Ryan Bingham and the Dead Horses, Jonathan Singleton & the Grove and Emily West will perform over three days during the event.

4 FINI knows what they are doing, evident in the fact that they have paired with the legendary Nashville café the Bluebird. The Bluebird Café is a stomping ground for today’s hottest stars, many of whom first got their start on its small stages (including songwriter Garth Brooks). Another Bluebird tent will feature smaller traveling acts who are looking to get their starts, many of whom haven’t seen beyond their backyard in terms of promotion. One such act is the Eli Young Band, a group of artists that are eager to be paired with some country legends. “Being part of this tour is a very exciting prospect for us,” Mike Eli said in a press statement. “We’re excited about what [the organizers] are going to do with country music!”

Country Throwdown is bound to be an experience for the masses, involving one main stage as well as two smaller stages. Put together by professionals of the traveling festival, the show will expose country fans to a slew of new acts while they await some of their favorites. Take Montgomery Gentry, the tour’s headliners who are currently supporting the seventh album Freedom, released in March 2010. The album’s single “Oughta Be More Songs about That” premiered in November and peaked at the Top 40 of Billboard’s Hot Country Songs Chart. The tune, much like others, has helped keep this duo within the mainstream.

Another mainstream act includes Jamey Johnson, a true country lad who brings his music to all kinds of audiences; this year he is hitting up Bonnaroo, honored at the Alabama Music Hall of Fame and nominated for several CMT Music Awards. With a thick Southern drawl that brings the true meaning of country music into his catchy hits, Johnson continues to support the 2008 release That Lonesome Song. See all of your favorites and catch some new stars this year at Country Throwdown.

4 Movements of a Symphony Exposed

4 Movements of a Symphony Exposed

It is divided into four ‘movements’ the orchestra stops between the parts. The first movement is fast, the second slow, the third medium, and the fourth fast. The feeling is like a novel an attention-attracting beginning, a slow, romantic section, a medium part that brings the story to its peak, and a fast ending where you can’t wait to find out what happens.

The first movement of a symphony shares the same form as the first movement of a sonata, a piece for a solo piano or a solo instrument accompanied by piano. Allegro means fast, so sonata-allegro means a certain form, played quickly.

The sonata-allegro form begins with a tune. In Beethoven’s Fifth Symphony, it is the dah dah dah daaaaaaaah sequence. Then it goes to a contrasting tune that has a different sound because the home pitch is different from the first tune. Finally, there is a closing tune that brings the whole thing to an ending. It’s like the end of a sentence in the middle of a paragraph. The two tunes and the closing theme comprise the exposition, which lays out the materials that will be used in the rest of the movement.

In the development section, the composer takes snippets from the tunes in the exposition. One snippet might be played several times using different pitches.

Finally there is the recapitulation, which is like the exposition, with one difference. When the second theme comes along, it remains in the original key instead of going to a different home pitch. The closing theme comes along and the first movement is done.

In the second movement, you get to hear the composer’s best melody-writing and you can enjoy the feelings of a beautiful song.

The third movement is in an old dance form called the minuet. The minuet is in waltz timing (ONE two three ONE two three). There is a feeling of happiness about a minuet it has one tune for 8 measures, which is repeated, then another tune for 8 measure, repeated. It moves to the trio, where you have two more 8 measure tunes that are repeated. Then, you move back into the minuet tunes..

The last movement can have any number of different forms it could be sonata-allegro again or it could be rondo form. Rondo is ABACADAEA, where A is a main tune and all the other alphabet letters are contrasting tunes. It’s a fun form to listen to because it’s interesting to hear how the composer will create a new contrasting tune after each repetition of the A tune.

When you first listen to symphonies, it may be hard to identify all these features. I would recommend listening to Haydn and Mozart because the elements of form are clear in their works. After you have listened for form many times, hearing the form won’t require so much concentration. Then you will be able to hear a symphony, maintain your interest, and enjoy it.
