Winter Park Jazz Fest Line-up Announced

Winter Park Jazz Fest Line-up Announced

Yeah! Part of the line-up of the 2009 Winter Park Jazz Festival has already been announced, with more artists still to be announced in the coming weeks. Since I’ve lived in Winter Park, the Jazz Fest line-up hasn’t been announced until late May or early June, so this is a record!

I’m not a really big Jazz music fan, so I can’t tell you much about these artists, but I can say that the Jazz Fest weekend is one of the most happenin’ weekends of the summer in Winter Park.  I  love going to the shows and being out in the action. Last year was a great time, the weather was perfect and I was introduced to some really good Jazz performers, like Kelly Sweet and Dave Koz (pictured here).

Oh, I almost forgot. Winter Park Lodging by Owner has some premier condos in a prime location for the Jazz Fest. They’re called the Trailhead Lodge condos, and they’re so close to the festival grounds, you can even watch the festival from the balcony one of them. Plus, they’re finishing up an outdoor pool and hot tubs this summer – we’ve heard they’ll be ready by July!

Here is what we know so far:

Saturday, July 25th

Fourplay Warren Hill War

Sunday, July 26th

Boney James Sax for Stax Rippingtons

We’ve updated our website with the Jazz Fest line-up as well. Keep checking back to get updates on the line-up, ticket prices and more.

The Winter Park Jazz festival is coming upon us quickly!  Dates for the festival are 7/25/2009 – 7/26/2009.  This is a great way too see some amazing jazz up in the Colorado Rocky Mountains.  The festival will be held in Hideaway Park in town. Being one of the most popular weekends of the summer in Winter Park it is time to book your lodging now!  More information about the music festival can be found at the Winter Park Chamber of Commerce .  Mention you saw the Winter Park Lodging by Owner’s Winter Park Jazz Festival blog and you will get 15% off your lodging.  We will keep you updated with the music lineup once we hear who is playing.  Get up here and listen to some jazz!!

Carlos Augusto Alves Santana (born July 20, 1947), known simply as Carlos Santana or Santana, is a Grammy Award-winning Mexican-born American Latin rock musician and guitarist. He became famous in the late 1960s and early 1970s with his band, the Santana Blues Band, going mostly under the title “Santana,” which created a highly successful blend of salsa, rock, blues, and jazz fusion. Their sound featured his often high-pitched and distorted guitar lines set against Latin American instrumentation such as timbales and congas. Santana continued to work in these forms over the following decades, and experienced a sudden resurgence of popularity and critical acclaim in the late 1990s. Over his career he has sold an estimated 80 million albums worldwide. George “Buddy” Guy (born July 30, 1936) is an American blues and rock guitarist and singer. Known as an inspiration to Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton and other 1960s blues and rock legends, Guy is considered an important exponent of Chicago blues. He is the father of female rapper Shawnna. Guy is known for his showmanship; for example, he plays his guitar with drumsticks, or strolls into the audience while jamming and trailing a long guitar cord. Born in Lettsworth, Louisiana, Guy grew up in Louisiana where he learned to play guitar at a womens trucker convention[citation needed]. In the early ’50s he began performing
