Jason Aldean Tickets ? Jason Aldean Gets Roped in for All-Star Performances
Country music newcomer Jason Aldean isn’t up for an accolade at this year’s Academy of Country Music (ACM) Awards, but the “Amarillo Sky” vocalist will be present for the April 18 awards show, anyway. Aldean has been tapped as one of the evening’s big performers at this year’s ACMs, and he’ll share the stage with some of country music’s hottest acts at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas for the 45th annual ACM Awards.
Jason Aldean has recently been announced as one of the leading stars for the upcoming ACMs, joining a colorful cast of country music heavy hitters like Kenny Chesney, Brooks & Dunn, Lady Antebellum, Tim McGraw, Trace Adkins, Carrie Underwood and Reba McEntire for the prestigious awards ceremony. Aldean, a 2005 ACM winner for Top New Male Vocalist, will then keep country music audiences in check the next night, when he performs as part of the tribute show “ACM Presents: Brooks & Dunn – The Last Rodeo.”
The Brooks & Dunn tribute concert will be taped April 19 following the ACM Awards in Las Vegas and will air May 23 on CBS, and Jason Aldean is just one of several artists lending their vocals to help exalt the best duo in recent country music history. Also set to perform at the Brooks & Dunn “Last Rodeo” tribute concert, which will be broadcast in honor of Brooks & Dunn’s final farewell, are country superstars like Taylor Swift, Kenny Chesney, Rascal Flatts, Carrie Underwood, Brad Paisley, Miranda Lambert, George Strait and more.
Jason Aldean’s participation in star-studded events like those surrounding this year’s ACM Awards means that he’s finally made it in the country music industry, deserving to be a headliner amongst Nashville’s biggest icons. Aldean has spent years trying to infiltrate the country scene, and it’s been nothing but successful for the Georgia native since 2005, when he cracked the surface with a shout-out to the country crowd in the form of a yeehaw-yelling song called “Hicktown.”
Soon thereafter establishing himself as a Southern-fried contemporary crooner with a traditional country appeal, Aldean quickly became a hot commodity on the country charts, zipping straight up to No. 1 with his second single, “Why,” in 2005. Successive singles “Amarillo Sky,” “She’s Country” and “Big Green Tractor” all notched slots on the Billboard charts, and by 2009 the cowboy hat-wearing crooner with a penchant for singing about tractors had become a bona fide country music superstar.
Aldean’s most recent studio album Wide Open is still a force to be reckoned with on the country music scene, notching the No. 2 slot on the country charts upon release and spawning the hit songs “She’s Country,” “Big Green Tractor” and “The Truth.” The album has also helped to sell Jason Aldean tickets from StubHub to a bevy of live performances, and with the Wide Open Tour extending its run through the summer of 2010, Jason Aldean and opening act Luke Bryan will continue tearing up the music scene on their way to country music euphoria.

Wichita Kansas Gets Noticed!!
Wichita Kansas Gets Noticed!!
Wow, the city I live and work in selling real estate was recently voted number one on Newsmax. Wichita holds the number one ranking of the “Top 25 Most uniquely American Cities and Towns.” Not sure what that’s worth, but what I found interesting, and I agree, was that we were rated a 9 on culture.
It must be the underground culture. Really, you would never believe it by the things you hear about Wichita. Nothing to do, flat, full of rednecks and then we had that little mini scandal where they tried to ban teaching evolution in the schools. Made us the laughing stock of the world.
When you take off the blinders and look around though, it really is a nice place to live. It’s quiet. Family values are held in high esteem. I think there may be more churches than liquor stores. (that’s an exaggeration, but there are a lot of churches) The people are friendly, the business climate is good, taxes a little high, but we’re working on that. The crime rate isn’t bad and the hospitality is outstanding.
We have loads of museams to wander thru including a modern world class art museum. The Sedgewick County Historical Museum is a wonderful old building full of rich Kansas history. One of my favorites is a private museum, The Museum of World Treasures, owned by a Doctor here in town who has traveled the world collecting artifacts from full dinosaur skeletons to ancient Egyptian relics to military paraphernalia from across time and around the world.
The opera company is well known around the area for it’s magnifisent performances and the Wichita Symphony Orchestra rivals any in the world. Music theater of Wichita preforms stunning off Broadway shows that can easily compete with the real thing. On top of that the many playhouses and theater groups that dot the community are all fun and extraordinarily entertaining.
There’s a living museam, Cowtown, that is an exact replica of a small Kansas town in the young frontier days of our country. We have an Indian center that celebrates the culture of the first Americans that were here before our forefathers immigrated here.
Exploration Place is a museum of sorts built half in the Arkansas river for kids and adults alike. A really unique building design and a place to learn and play. Recently we had the world renown “Body: The Exhibit” on display.
Just getting finished up is the brand new arena that the people voted to have built downtown for concerts, games and shows. If that’s not enough venue, there’s the coliseum right outside of town where there is everything from monster truck rallies to horse and dog shows. The Sedgewick county 4-H club uses the coliseum for all of it’s major events too.
Am I forgetting anything? I’m sure I have. We have the Arkansas River that runs through downtown and hosts the River Festival every year, can’t forget that.
The town and surrounding area is full of lakes to fish in. If you like to hunt your own meat, the hunting in the area is famous for deer and turkey. Hunters come from around the country to bag their limits every year.
All in all there is more to do here than you can “shake a stick at”. The really nice thing is the people. Friendly, down home, laid back and full of “culture”.

“There Is A Crack In Everything That’s How The Light Gets In.” – Leonard Cohen
“There Is A Crack In Everything That’s How The Light Gets In.” – Leonard Cohen
Shaun Nishmas
Good morning, faculty members and students.
Let me start by saying that I am very proud to be addressing such a distinguished audience.
We have gathered here today to celebrate imperfection. Yes, I said imperfection, not perfection. Today I will be talking to you about imperfection and knowledge—and how each thrives on the other. During this meeting, I will take the position that in a perfect world, you cannot attain knowledge. Only in an imperfect world can knowledge thrive. That is why we should celebrate imperfection.
Ask yourself: can you learn anything if everything were perfect?
Do we learn more when something is imperfect, or when something is perfect? I believe that we learn more when something is imperfect. If everything were perfect, all imperfections would be eliminated, and I mean ALL.
What is perfection?
The oldest definition of “perfection” is by Aristotle, a renowned Greek philosopher, a student of Plato and teacher of Alexander the Great. He once wrote about three different ways of looking at perfection:
1. Perfection is complete — that which contains all the requisite parts.
2. Perfection is so good that nothing of the kind could be better.
3. Perfection is that which has attained its purpose.
You might say that perfection is, broadly, a state of completeness and flawlessness. By definition, perfection would stop the pursuit of knowledge because there would be nothing left to pursue. We are talking about a state of completeness and flawlessness, after all. In other words, if everything were complete and flawless, there would be no need to learn anything.
In a perfect world, every story would have a happy ending, so we wouldn’t learn the lessons that come from sadness.
In a perfect world, we would all be New York Yankees, so we would never learn the lessons that come from the agony of defeat.
In a perfect world, everyone would be popular, so we would never learn the lessons that come from isolation and loneliness.
In a perfect world, nobody would die, so we would never learn the lessons that come from grief.
I can honestly argue that we would not need to learn anything because all our needs would be met…perfectly. So why question anything? Why bother?
So do we learn more if something is imperfect? I think so.
I would even venture to say that something needs to be imperfect before we can learn something. Even perfection isn’t perfect. Without the knowledge that comes from imperfection, perfection would cease to be perfect. According to Leonard Cohen, one of the most important and influential songwriters of the 20th century, “There is a crack in everything, that’s how the light gets in.”
What does Leonard Cohen mean by the crack? I believe that it is imperfection. What is imperfection? If perfection is a state of completeness and flawlessness, then imperfection is a flawed, incomplete state that could only inspire perfection in the form of knowledge.
Unless the heart breaks, you would never learn about love.
Unless you’ve been wronged, you would never learn about what is right.
Unless you failed at something, you would never learn about success.
By recognizing the lessons that come from an imperfect world and learning from them, we attain personal growth and well-being. In other words, the “light” Leonard Cohen talks about.
The pathway to this light is not a perfectly straight line. There are many cracks in the road, each leading to a different truth. Hundreds, if not thousands, of truths, in fact. In an imperfect world, there’s no limit to how much you can learn…how much light can come into your life.
I hope the cracks in your world bring light to your life.
Thank you.
A master-piece of Leonard Cohen
